How To Make 12 Christmas Cards With The “Hello December 2016 Project Life” Kit

I have said over and over and over again that I am NOT a scrapbooker.  It took awhile for me to tell myself that it’s okay.  Stampin’ Up! is about doing what you LOVE, and I LOVE creating greeting cards.  Today I want to show you how you can make twelve Christmas cards with the new Hello December 2016 Project Life Kit and Accessory Pack.

How To Make 12 Christmas Cards With The “Hello December 2016 Project Life” Kit

First, take a look at my quick video to see an example of the cards:

Supplies You’ll Need From The 2016 Holiday Catalog:

Paper You Will Need From The Annual Catalog:

Stamp Set, Ink, and Framelits You’ll Need From The Annual Catalog:

Big Shot Items and Punches You’ll Need From The Annual Catalog:

Ribbon You’ll Need From The Annual Catalog:

Adhesives You’ll Need From The Annual Catalog:

Phew!  That’s a lot of supplies, right?  But don’t panic!  Go through your supplies and take inventory of the stuff you already have or stuff that is similar to what I used if you want to make your own adjustments.

Now that you have gathered your stuff together, what do you need to do with it??  Here is what you’ll need to do before you start assembling the cards:

  1.  score 6 pieces of Crumb Cake 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock at the 4-1/4″ mark and cut each scored piece at 5-1/2″ so you end up with 12 card bases
  2. cut 5 pieces of Real Red 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss each piece with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
  3. cut 7 pieces of Emerald Envy 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss each piece with the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
  4. die-cut 4 bows with the bow framelit from the Wonderful Wreaths Framelits Dies
  5. die-cut 4 “Noel”s with the Noel framelit from the Wonderful Wreaths Framelits Dies
  6. take a look at the photos and get busy CASE-ing!!  (copy my layouts like you see them)

I’ll be posting more in-depth videos soon.  In the meantime, this should be enough info to get you started!!  🙂

Make Cards In A Snap!

Good Vibes Project Life

You can make a gorgeous greeting card in a snap with the Good Vibes Project Life Card Collection and Good Vibes Project Life Accessory Pack from Stampin’ Up!  When I say “in a snap,” I mean it!  I made both of these cards in under five minutes with items from the Accessory Pack.  Take a look and be sure to make note of that adorable little stamp set that is included in the Accessory Pack!!!  Emojis!!

Project Life is meant to be a fun and easy way to scrapbook your memories, but since I’m not a scrapbooker, I found that Project Life is perfect for cardmakers, too.  (Check out my post where I discuss making cards with Project Life.)

For the “Life Is Lovely” card, all I had to do was trim the white overlay to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and adhere it to the Flirty Flamingo cardstock.  I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the sequence, and BAM! The card was finished!

To create the “So Perfect” card, I scored one end of the white overlay so that the overall length was 5-1/4″ and I used the fabulous washi tape that is included in the Good Vibes Project Life Accessory Pack to keep the scored piece in place.  Seriously, SO PERFECT and seriously SO EASY!

The new 2016-17 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog has a plethora of Project Life Card Collections and Accessory Packs to fit a variety of occassions.  You can view all of the offerings on my Stampin’ Up! ordering page.  Below is a slideshow of the supplies I used to create these two fun and easy cards.

Make Cards Quickly and Easily with Project Life

I will be the first to admit that I am not a scrapbooker.  When the scrapbook craze hit more than a decade ago, I was not on board.  I did make a few scrapbooks, but I certainly did not become obsessed.  If you are like me and never drank the scrapbooking Kool Aid, you probably look at the Project Life scrapbook offerings from Stampin’ Up! and just flip the pages.  After all, if you aren’t a scrapbooker, why would you need to waste your time looking at the scrapbooking supplies when there is an entire catalog FULL of stamp sets, card stock, and embellishments for your card-making and paper crafting obsessions, right?  WRONG!  I want to tell you how you can make cards quickly and easily with Project Life Card Collections and Project Life Accessories Packs!!  It’s so easy that I created today’s cards in just a few minutes with items from the Project Life Moments Like These Card Collection and the  Project Life Moments Like These Accessory Pack, two items which I am happy to say were carried over from last year’s Annual Catalog to the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.

I really love this simple yet elegant “Hello” card.  The hints of Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron make the heart in the center of the card pop.

project life moments like these card

We attended a wedding a few days ago and I didn’t know what to do with the engagement photo that was included along with the invitation.  Chloe has been a part of our lives for eighteen years, so I wanted to do something special.  I’m going to mail this card to her once she is settled into her new home with her new husband.  I like the play on the word “captured” that is pre-printed on the card!  “Captured” meaning the photo and moment were captured, and “captured” meaning their hearts are captured. So cute!

I can’t wait until my order of new products arrives!  There is a wonderful new feature to Stampin’ Up!’s Project Life offerings that I can’t wait to share with you!!  Until then, take a look at some of the other cards I made quickly and easily with Project Life:

#4:  Seasonal Snapshot 2015 Project Life Card Collection was $16 | now $6.40

#5:  Real Red Pom Pom Trim was $6.00 | now $2.40

Before you freak out and say to yourself, “All of this is Christmas stuff!” just think back to the start of the Christmas season and remember how excited you were when you promised yourself that THIS would be the year when you would get everything done without being stressed.  Then think back to the middle of Christmas season when panic set in and you realized that your plan failed.  You can conquer the failure by ordering my top 5 picks from the Stampin’ Up! Clearance Rack.  Why?  Let me tell you.

  • You can read about the features and benefits of the To You & Yours Shaker Card Kit HERE, and see examples of cards you can quickly assemble with the leftovers HERE, HERE, and HERE.  You will be a rock star when your friends receive these cards in the mail.  You can also give the kit as a gift to the card making lovers in your life.
  • Who doesn’t want to open a present with the a tag from the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit?  What I love most about these fun Christmas tags is that you can add them to small gifts and gift bags that otherwise wouldn’t make a great first impression and turn what at first glance looks like an underwhelming gift into the first gift your friends want to open.
  • I have included both the Hello December 2015 Project Life Accessory Pack  (just cut out the “2015”) and the Seasonal Snapshot 2015 Project Life Card Collection for the same reason.  Each kit provides enough materials for you to quickly assemble not only scrapbooks, but also fun greeting cards.  It takes no time to cut and score card stock and use the items in both of these kits to put together cute Christmas cards.
  • Do I even need to explain why you need the Real Red Pom Pom Trim?  I mean just look at how adorable it is!  Use it to wrap presents, string it up and use our Mini Metallic Clothespins to hang up your Christmas cards, or use it as an embellishment on your cards.  And hey, its’ red, so you can also use it for Valentine’s Day and Fourth of July projects!

Here is a look at ALL of the Clearance Rack items.  Have fun shopping!!

The Memories in the Making Project Life Specialty Card Collection is one of several products that you can earn for FREE with a qualifying purchase from the 2016 Sale-a-Bration Promotional Catalog.  I’m not a scrapbooker, but that doesn’t mean that Project Life is off-limits to me.  In fact, Project Life can be a card-makers best friend and a real life-saver, especially if and when you ever suffer from “Card-Makers Block.”  You can see some of the great cards I created with Project Life supplies HERE, HERE, and HERE.

I made a traditional shaker card with some of the pieces that are included in the Sale-a-Bration Memories in the Making Project Life Specialty Card Collection. I paired the black, white, and silver specialty cards with a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack from the Annual Catalog.  I love the color combination! Silver and Pacific Point compliment each other so beautifully!  I like the hint of Mint Macaron thrown in there, too.

There are a total of 30 cards in the FREE Memories in the Making Project Life Specialty Card Collection Kit.  Here is a little sampling:

Some of the cards, like the ones I used on my card, are acetate with metallic ink printed designs.  They add such a glamorous look to the card.  These specialty cards make the greeting card look like it took a ton of effort to make, when in reality, it was very easy to assemble.

memories in the making

Are you tired of my shaker cards yet?  I’ve been creating cards for almost FOURTEEN years now, and I finally got the hang of shaker cards.  Oh, no!  Another obsession!  Using Project Life stuff to make greeting cards is another new obsession of mine, too.  Get ready!!

October 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit Reveal Video

october 2015 paper pumpkin kit reveal video breast cancer awareness

Friends! First, a big thank you to all who have recently subscribed to my YouTube channel and who have signed up to receive my newsletter. I promise you lots of fun as we create projects together!

Here is a little sneak-peek video of the October 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit. I can’t wait until I can get home from having my greys covered (at what point do I just stop all this fuss and go natural) so I can get busy making the cards and more importantly, coming up with some alternative ideas for additional projects.

As you will see in the video, the stamp set in the October 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit is fantastic!  The set alone is well- worth the price of the entire kit.  The cards in the kit can be used for fall, spring, or summer.  It is wonderful!  See for yourself… 😉

Project Life by Stampin’ Up! Mini Album

mini album project life moments like these stampin up

I made these cute mini albums using the Moments Like These Project Life Bundle by Stampin’ Up! to swap at next week’s Stampin’ Up! 2015 Inspire – Create – Share event in Salt Lake City.  I am excited to attend and be a part of all the fun!  I have attend Stampin’ Up! national conventions three times, Leadership twice, and several Regional gatherings. (I once had the opportunity to do an on-stage presentation at one of the Regional events.)  One of the benefits of attending live Stampin’ Up! events is the exposure to so much creativity.  Not only do the Stampin’ Up! employees fill us with ideas and inspiration for projects and products, but we also have the opportunity to create our own projects and trade our items with others.  “Swapping” is a great way to meet fellow demonstrators and to get inspired.

Even though the mini albums I made for my swaps look like they were a ton of work, I made all of them in under two hours!  Here’s how:

Supplies:

Moments Like These Project Life by Stampin’ Up!

Tin of Cards Photopolymer Stamp Set

To add the bling, you can use whatever punches and accessories that you would like to use,  but I used

  •      Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack
  •      Gold & Silver Sequin Trims
  •      Silver Metallic Thread
  •      Calypso Coral Thick Baker’s Twine

Purchased plastic name tags and metal key rings

How-to:

Trim assorted papers from the Moments Like These Project Life Kit to measure 2-1/2″ x 3-1/4″

Add embellishments to each piece of paper

Insert the embellished papers into the name tags (I used six pieces of paper/six name tags per album, but you can use as many as you want to!)

Attach the pages to the metal ring

Tie assorted ribbons around the ring

THAT IS ALL!!!  It doesn’t get any easier than that!!

Play around with the different patterns of papers included in the kit.  Here are two combinations I put together:

Banner Triple Punch by Stampin’ Up!: Your New Best Friend! 2 comments

triple banner punch stampin up

One of my top favorite items from the new 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! Annual Idea Book and Catalog is the Banner Triple Punch. It is three punches in one!   You can quickly create banners with widths of 1″, 1-1/2″, and 2″ and any lengths you choose.  The punch makes the banner-cut perfectly!  No more using your paper snips to try to get the points even.  Just cut the strip to your desired width and punch away!  (You can even use the cut-out triangle piece, too.)  The Banner Triple Punch stores flat so it doesn’t take up much room in your craft storage and stacks atop your other Stampin’ Up! punches.

Let’s talk about the colors I used in this card, too.  I love haute couture and that is why I absolutely love the beautiful color combination of black and gold.  Just look at how chic this card is when Basic Black cardstock and Gold Foil are added to Whisper White cardstock.  This is such a simple card, yet it speaks volumes all because two basic colors are combined to make it pop.

You can order the Banner Triple Punch when the catalog goes live on June 2nd.  You can also order the Moments Like These Project Life Card Collection by Stampin’ Up! and the Moments Like These Project Life Accessory Pack by Stampin’ Up! on June 2nd.

Be sure to follow me on my social media accounts and subscribe to receive blog updates so you won’t miss out on the catalog launch.  (Find the links on the top of my right sidebar.)  Fun times ahead!!
